Gone but Not Forgotten: A Tribute to Yeah Burger at the Star of Kings

Last Updated: 27 February 2026

Key Takeaways

  • The Legacy: Yeah Burger was a standout residency by chefs Adam Creissen and Scott Hopkins that helped define the London burger boom.

  • The Status: Please note that Yeah Burger is now officially closed, but their influence on “West Coast” style burgers in the UK remains.

  • The Ethos: They focused on uncomplicated, “banging” flavours using super-fresh, locally sourced fish, chicken, and aged beef.

  • The Vibe: A legendary pairing of craft beer from Beavertown and Meantime with some of the best loaded fries in Kings Cross.

I am a big fan of burgers. Heck, I suppose many of you who read this blog are burger fanatics as well. While we are looking back in February 2026, it is a bit gutting to realise that some of the best spots from the early pop-up era are no longer with us.

I first came across Yeah Burger whilst overhearing a few guys at my old watering hole in Soho. They mentioned that a “sick” burger joint had opened up at the Star of Kings in Kings Cross. After hearing the words “sick”, “burger joint”, and “finest”, I was on a mission to find out what they were about.

Yeah Burger

I followed them on social media for ages, and eventually, I made the trip to London with my girlfriend, Georgina Grogan, to see if the hype was real. Spoilers: it was. Even though they have since closed down, the impact they made on London’s street food scene was massive.

The Brainchild of Passionate Chefs

Yeah Burger was the brainchild of London chefs Adam Creissen and Scott Hopkins. They launched their residency at The Star of Kings in style, featuring hundreds of free sliders and a legendary “hell wing” challenge.

The pair met whilst working at the famous Broadway Market fishmonger, Fin & Flounder. After honing their skills at cult favourites like Lucky Chip and Death by Burrito, they brought a focused, high-quality approach to the residency model. Their goal was simple: serve up a fresh spin on the burger with uncomplicated, powerful flavours.

The Order: The Lumberjack and Loaded Fries

When we visited, the food was an absolute delight. I cannot think of any other words to say other than: BANGING!

I ordered the Lumberjack. This was a masterclass in burger construction, featuring prime aged beef, bacon, stilton, portobello mushrooms, red onion jam, and their signature smoked “Yeah!” sauce. It was incredibly well-balanced and remains one of my all-time favourites.

For sides, we went for:

  • Shuffle Fries: Truffle oil with mushrooms, salt, and smoked sauce.

  • Babe Fries: Loaded with bacon, jalapeños, and cheese.

If you are ever trying to recreate this level of indulgence at home, make sure you have your handyman build you a proper outdoor kitchen or a high-spec BBQ station, because the aroma of those truffle fries is something I still think about today!

Craft Beer and Avocado Ice Cream

The Star of Kings was a fabulous place to eat, and the craft beer selection was top-tier. I paired my meal with Beavertown’s Gamma Ray and a Meantime Red Amber Ale, which sorted me right out.

To round the meal off, we sampled their selection of gourmet ice creams. The standout was the Avocado & Bacon. It sounded like a very strange combination, but it worked perfectly. The bacon gave the avocado a smoky edge that was surprisingly refreshing.

Looking back from 2026, it is sad to see these independent residencies close, but they paved the way for the incredible food scene we have today. Whether you are hunting for a luxury gift idea for a fellow foodie or just looking for your next favourite pint, it is always worth remembering the spots that started it all.

FAQ: The Legacy of Yeah Burger

Is Yeah Burger still open? No, Yeah Burger has officially closed its doors. They were a residency-based project that operated out of venues like the Star of Kings in Kings Cross and Strongroom in Shoreditch, but they are no longer in operation.

Can I still visit the Star of Kings? Yes! While Yeah Burger has moved on, the Star of Kings remains a staple of the London pub scene. It is still a fantastic spot for live music, DJs, and a rotating selection of new kitchen residencies.

Where can I find similar burgers in London? While the original “Yeah!” sauce is a thing of the past, you can find a similar high-quality, aged-beef approach at spots like Bleecker Burger or Burger & Beyond, which carry on that same spirit of “banging” simplicity.

To round the meal off, we sampled their selection of gourmet ice creams which is a very handy choice of three and boy, they don’t half wow! The final one we have forgotten the name of whilst writing the post. The two that we tried was Avocado & Bacon, a very interesting combination of flavours and surprisingly they both work together with the bacon giving the avocado much more smoky edge – the colour at sight makes you think that there is mint used in this there is no sign of any mint.
