Beer Focus: Signature Brew & Manchester Punk Festival – Nightingale

Well aren’t you a lucky lot! – It was only recently that I shared Signature Brew have launched a new brewski to their roster called Nightingale, it’s a collaboration brew between Signature Brew and Manchester Punk Festival with a release date in April 2020 and sold at the festival also.

But with the current events, the tables have turned and for every beer sold, Signature Brew will be donating £1 to NHS Charities Together, pretty awesome I must say.

Which leads me on to the beer, what’s it like?

Well, to begin with I must give a shout out to their new look. I know we’re jetting back to November 2019 when they announced this, but I never had the luxury of taking a look in first hand and wow, their artwork the aesthetic is really something that pleased me and genuinely made me want to get more of their beers. I think it is the mere fact it gives a nod to the classic posters, design and typography used back in the day that really stood out to me.

The beer itself was real tasty, in fact, better than what I thought. On the nose you’re welcomed with a delightful punch of tropical fruit notes and hints of zesty citrus fruits. It isn’t overpowering and it also has a slight touch of pine and touch of spice. Pouring into the glass, to begin with there was a quite a large two finger head but this soon reduced to next-to-nothing.

Taking my first sip there was a generous amount of grapefruit, lemon, zingy orange, and a back end of sour pine. The sourness tends to stay around for a little while, waiting for you to take the next gulp but it’s nothing that will not make you want to drink this beer. In fact it will do the complete opposite, and make you want to keep indulging until your heart’s content!

Amazing work on this collaboration beer, Signature Brew! – You can get yours now from the Signature Brew online shop and is available at £3.70 per can but you can also grab this in a 6, 12, or 24 pack.

I cannot say enough great things about this beer, and I can’t imagine how good this beer will taste on cask or keg! If you have tried this beer on either then please let me know in the comments, I’d love to hear what it’s like.

See you all in the next post! Or check out my previous beer posts here.
