BEER FOCUS: Partizan Brewing & Brew Republic – Session Ale

Last Updated: 17 February 2026

Partizan Brewing has always been a delightful brewery, their beers are flavourful and the artwork always catches my eye in any bottleshop that has their brews on the shelf.

Partizan has been brewing beer in South Bermondsey since 2012, starting life on The Kernel’s original brew kit due to their expansion and Partizan and The Kernel were neighbours after securing just down the railway line and being two of the main focal points on the Bermondsey Beer Mile.

You can’t think of Partizan Brewing without their unique artwork, all thanks to Alec Doherty who developed Partizan’s unique image and direction.

Today, Partizan is still based out of their original home and still producing wonderful beers and nods to the breweries that brewed beer before them in the Bermondsey area with complex stouts, the London classic, Porter, to the milder ales that working men sought after and the highly hopped India Pale Ale.

In all honesty, I would never go out my own way to get hold of a session beer, okay, there has been one time I brought The Kernel’s Table Beer, but I would only really drink these on a night out to have something that is consistently tasty. Nevertheless, Session ales are perfect for someone who isn’t necessarily a fan of a beer which is hopped to nines or drowned in bitterness, they are a perfect balance of the two when done right.

Partizan Brewing’s Session Ale is a beer that I would give to anyone who wants to put their foot into the craft beer world, sure, there is probably other beers out there that we could all debate on but this one is just right, very easy to drink amongst friends be it, on a night out or in the house.

The colour is almost identical to that of a lager but with a slight haze towards the top of the beer with a fresh, vibrant aroma. The first mouthful was crisp, tropical fruits, lemon zest and citrus notes with a sharp bitterness towards the finish.

I would pair this beer, or, these styles of beers with a pasta dish or fish to add an extra layer of flavour, particularly with fish when using citrus to cook with.

Overall this Session Ale from Partizan Brewing & Brew Republic is a beer I would recommend to try if it is still available online.

Marks out of 10? – 8/10.
