Restaurant Focus: Yeah Burger
I’m a big fan of burgers, heck I suppose some of you guys who read my blog are burger fanatics as well. Don’t worry, it’s not a bad thing and I am very sure we can all prove our desire for the power of the burger with just maybe ordering the least “bigger” option.
I came across Yeah Burger whilst over hearing a few guys at my old watering hole in Soho, London they mentioned that a very “sick” burger joint has opened up at the Star of Kings, Kings Cross and serving the finest. After hearing the very words “sick”, “burger joint”, “opened up” and “finest” I was on a mission to find out about these guys and see what they are about. I soon found them on Twitter and Instagram and loved what they was doing in London but I never found the time to pay them a visit.
Yeah Burger is the brain child of London chefs Adam Creissen and Scott Hopkins which announced their residency at The Star of Kings on the 16th January with 200 free sliders, hell wing challenge, DJ’s and 500 free PBRS – basically, opening up in style and recently have announced that they are opening up at Strongroom, Shoreditch which is now open.
Their ethos is to serve up a spin on the “burger’, with a focus on uncomplicated flavours with super-fresh produces from fish, chicken and meat all locally sourced and caught. Eating at Yeah Burger you can expect west-coast style burgers with a side of Californian and Mexican inspired fries and sides, plus a huge wider menu of hot dogs, healthy salad options, fermented sides and sorbet desserts (which are gorgeous.)
The business is a collaborative project between Adam & Simon, who met whilst working at Broadway Market’s fishmonger Fin & Flounder. Picking up their skills at restaurants such as Lucky Chip and Death by Burrito over a duration of three years, the pair decided it was time to venture into their next residency after successful summer vacancies at Catch, Glastonbury and Shuffle Film Festival and also a Autumn residence at Star of Hackney Downs.
So this time, whilst me and my girlfriend; Georgina Grogan was in London Town we arranged to visit Yeah Burger and see what the fuss was all about. The food was an absolute delight, I can’t think of any other words to say than: BANGING!
I ordered their Lumberjack (£9.50) which consists of a prime aged beef with bacon, stilton, portobello mushrooms, red onion jam and smoked Yeah! sauce and rocket with a side of two fries which was Shuffle [£4.50] (truffle oil with mushrooms, salt smoked Yeah! sauce) and Babe Fries (£4.50) with bacon, jalapeños and cheese. All of which was stunning and absolutely beautiful.
The Star of Kings was a fabulous place to eat and the craft beer selection was great, seeing me through I was drinking Beavertown’s Gamma Ray” and Meantime Red Amber Ale but they also serve Meantime on tap with Pale Ale, lager as well as serving Beavertown’s Session IPA and a variety of other fine selections which will definitely sort you right out.
To round the meal off, we sampled their selection of gourmet ice creams which is a very handy choice of three and boy, they don’t half wow! The final one we have forgotten the name of whilst writing the post. The two that we tried was Avocado & Bacon, a very interesting combination of flavours and surprisingly they both work together with the bacon giving the avocado much more smoky edge – the colour at sight makes you think that there is mint used in this there is no sign of any mint.
